culture, a trip, and still some Kampusführung

weekend was once again the Intenet in the dorm do not, so I've added a few stories.

We were on Friday at the Kunsthaus Graz (the blue circular building) has the fifth Birthday celebration and there was free admission and special tours. We have been through to get the technology leadership and explains all the lower floors with air conditioning, fire protection equipment, lifting equipment etc.. Before that we have of course looked at the art house. We did not take any pictures inside. The interior is made really cool, you ride with a long roller band virtually from the bottom into the blue ball. Interior wars in the 1st Stock fairly "normal", ie no curved walls, etc., the curves can be seen only by the barrel or Eden. This is the room in the 2nd Stock very good. As you watch them Bubbels cheer roof, which are virtually the skylights. The ceiling stretched here supports free over the entire room, all walls and floors are dark and kept only those light eyes really stand out blatantly from the ceiling.

On Saturday we went to Armoury and Eggenberg. The Armory is an arsenal of the Middle Ages. Since bearings on 4 floors countless armor, muskets, swords and other weapons. Thus, in the event of war the army and the citizenry equipped and sent into battle.

Eggenberg is located on the periphery of Graz, about 15 minutes. Ride on the tram. From the outside it is quite simply a castle. The good Lord Eggenebrg that was just a stinking rich merchant Grazer, had eventually have to build his personal family castle. Since the good Guy in Tübingen (!) Had studied, he was quite the enthusiasm of science (mathematics, astrology, etc.). This enthusiasm for science is reflected in the palace again. So there are 4 towers for the seasons, 52 doors for a week, 365 days, and so the window for every little detail in the castle is due to any number in the Nature in the calendar. The really flashy at the castle, however, the 24 state rooms (12 for the day, 12 for the night). That's 24 rooms are equipped in such a pretentious that even the Abramovich and Slims of today could be jealous. All rooms are equipped with oversized wall and ceiling paintings, there are no place that is not somehow ornate. Chandelier here, Chinese porcelain in the wall there ...

Today we had another meeting with the tutors at the Erasmus University . They have shown us anything then at TU. Drafting rooms, plot, model shop, etc. After the tour we went all together to the corner, a pub right by the university. Prost, there was again a new beer from the Czech Republic Starobrno. Our program we have now completely sums up. There are some seminars the evidence we can not because they are full, or simply no longer be offered, but that governed it all.

No habla alleman, the "Welcome Day" at the TU

Today was the "Welcome Day" at the TU Graz. This means that we are at 10.00 and were then stood at 12.00 at the Technical University (without an alarm clock!). As we picked our university records and quite a few leaflets and even made a Kampustour. Our Kampustourführerin was Miss mortar (Blond with shield) from the TU. Which we then explained that the University is divided into 3 areas (older technology, as we are, new technology and Infeldgasse) depending on the seminar can it be that we need to move between fields. Maybe we steal a bike but then us. After Kampusführung there were times lectures followed by a reception at the Rector with breakfast in the auditorium of the old technology. Next week, then the ideas from the designs which we can select and tomorrow there is again a special "orientation" for architects. Beautiful as is a worry.
Surprisingly, the perceived 90% of Erasmus students from Spain, so that the dominant language of today rather than German or English, but English was. Since all lectures in German and English, or were held only in English, but all the Spaniards at a loss and have not all understood what was told today. It will come. We are now at any rate officially enrolled at the university, with students Ausweiss and all the bells and drann. It all goes here online, on the TU Portal. Now we have to hold still register for our seminars / designs, but that's also all in this online portal. So no problem. Tomorrow we go to the university sports and get back in there. This will hopefully do the bad back quite well. In college, so is everything.
In the non-flat. Our Super Siemens dishwasher (alliteration) is broken. Shit. So we have time to wash again by hand (modern student problems). But that is determined again. The OAD people take care of this, yes.

Therme Bad Gleichenberg

have After the grueling migrations of the last days we indulged us a day off and visit the thermal baths in Bad Gleichenberg, Ca. one hour overland trip from Graz away. The spa is located outside in a spa environment with lots of greenery around it. Ideal to relax a bit.
The complex with a hotel, health spa, spa, restaurant, etc. was designed by Norwegian architecture firm JSA Jensen & Skodvin Arkitektkontor and only recently opened.
So it's all still very new. Here and there a cable has looked out of the wall or missing a plug, but such trifles were the exception. By and large, the spa is very well done. Of the materials are greatly reduced, wood and stone dominate the overall picture.
Since everything is very new, and we were on Monday there was not much going on, sometimes we were all alone. The bathroom has a large indoor pool with various massage stations and a 25-meter track. Outside, there is still a pool with thermal water (salty) and more jets. Thats has given an indoor whirlpool, and massive beds to relax.
The sauna was great, almost luxurious. At the reception we have first of all an halbnakter chicken outfit in the sauna, so flip flops and Body Wraps, we picked up and, after Lisa's question how everything here works, explains the whole sauna area. In addition to various saunas (infrared, steam bath, bio sauna and Finnish sauna), there was a small buffet snacks, dry fruits, fresh water and nuts. Towels gabs so much as wanted. Since we, as previously mentioned, from time to time alone were in the spa, sauna gabs then the conclusion of the tour a "private infusion" for Lisa and me in the Finnish sauna.
After almost nine hours of total relaxation, we are finally home, so to Graz, down (half-blind but because it was pouring down with rain and the windshield is a little Twingo malad).

Until then, Lisa and Arnold
